The purpose of permaculture is to take from the Earth only what we need in order to survive, thrive and create, and then to return it in as good or better a condition than we found it. Thus we create beneficent cycles that serve both humanity and the planet.
The first slide of the Permaculture Plan is a topographical map of the property the way it was in 2009. The greywater system is visible, as well as the first garden.
The second slide shows the proposed Earthworks. Over a year and a half period we cleared the northwest quadrant, terraced it and then planted 25 deciduous fruit trees a year
ago. We are now preparing the south side for the chicken run and coop. The upper vegetable garden remains to be terraced and then planted, freeing the current one for berries.
The third slide is the waterworks plan. The fruit trees are now irrigated from the greywater system. Also visible is the placement of the water well on the north and higher side, and the proposed blackwater system on the lower south side, incorporated among the semi tropical fruit trees.
The fourth shows the actual and proposed plantings; of vegetables, berries, deciduous and semi tropical fruit trees, carbon trees and various nut trees. The bee hives will be located in the #7 area.
The fifth is the overall design concept. The solar panels are on the roof and pergola of the south side of the house. The solar hotwater is on the garage roof near the water treatment room.ยป
